Euro 2020 gets underway on 11 June after being pushed forward by a year due to the pandemic. The 24-nation tournament will be played across 11 stadiums in 11 different countries. The tournament is being held across multiple European cities in celebration of the 60th "birthday" of the European Championship competition. Portugal are the defending champions.
19 of the 24 teams that have qualified for the tournament played the 2016 event as well. North Macedonia and Finland will be making their tournament debuts. Scotland are playing their first major event since the 1998 World Cup. Netherlands and Denmark return having missed the 2016 Euros which were played in Portugal. Among the absentees, 2004 champions Greece are possibly the most notable ones alongside Albania, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Romania.
Unlike previous editions, Euro 2020 will have squad sizes of 26 players instead of the 23 to counter possible COVID-19 outbreaks and strain on footballers. However, the team sheet would include the usual 23 - 11 starting and 12 on the bench - with five substitutes. The teams were required to announce their squads by 1 June.
